Engage!24 The Africa Experience was an immersion into the untamed beauty and rich cultural landscapes of Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. So of course that meant spending some time in nature and connecting with the incredible landscapes, flora, and fauna that make this part of Africa so memorable. This was a different kind of attendee education. Our guests had the opportunity to experience both land and water safaris. They witnessed animals, birds, and other creatures up close, soaking in the stunning panoramas from iconic locations like the Lookout Café. Every moment of these daytime experiences was crafted to offer a unique taste of Africa’s beauty and depth, blending heart-pounding adventure with soulful reflection and reconnection with the natural world.
Safari Adventure at Chobe National Park
“They say an elephant never forgets. What they don’t tell you is, you never forget an elephant.” – Bill Murray
Day two of Engage!24 The Africa Experience began bright and early, as all good safaris do! To begin with, our excited group had a quick grab-and-go breakfast at dawn. We then headed over the border to one of Africa’s most celebrated safari destinations, Chobe National Park in Botswana. Famous for its sprawling landscapes and abundant, diverse wildlife, Chobe is especially renowned for its vast elephant populations. This is where visitors can experience some of the world’s most awe-inspiring ecosystems, including the iconic Big Five. Dressed in their most chic safari gear, our attendees were ready to experience the magic.
We started with a land safari. The group witnessed elephants marching along dirt tracks, giraffes gracefully nibbling from towering trees, and a crash of rhinos dozing in the shade. A pride of lions, with their cubs, was another highlight. At each stop, our guides shared stories that brought the park’s rich history to life, highlighting Chobe’s ecological wonders and the animals’ roles within it.
When lunchtime arrived, our adventurers were ready to unwind. They shared safari stories over a delicious meal at the Chobe Marina Lodge, recharging before the next round of game viewing.
From there, the afternoon continued with a river safari on the dazzling blue Chobe River. Floating along, attendees encountered hippos and crocodiles up close, while elephants took mudbaths along the banks. The air was filled with the unforgettable sounds of Africa. The chirrup of cicadas, the soft grunts of grumpy hippos, the calls of distant birds, and the occasional splash of a crocodile as it slips beneath the surface into the river depths. It may have been the first safari for many of our attendees, but none were willing for it to be their last. As the saying goes, there are a lot of things that bite in Africa, but the safari bug most of all!
Lunch at The Lookout Café
Perched high above the Batoka Gorge and Zambezi River, The Lookout Café is a dining experience like no other. Furthermore, with its panoramic views of Victoria Falls and lush African surroundings, this beloved café is a must-see at the falls. So it was a natural choice for our day three luncheon. Tendai Kevin Zhou created a charming setting of African fusion décor in this space. It lent a relaxed, elegant ambiance to the lunch, blending natural beauty with a warm, inviting open-air setup.
At tables decorated in beautiful local linens, guests were treated to locally sourced ingredients and fine South African wines. Dining with Victoria Falls and the gorge in the background was truly something special. The unique seating arrangement also encouraged attendees to connect, share their experiences, and bask in the magic of the location. It was a lunch that truly elevated the Engage!24 journey, both literally and figuratively!
Group Experiences
Our Engage!24 Africa groups embraced the spirit of the continent. These curated daytime experiences highlighted Zambia’s heritage, nature, and community values.
Mukina Village Tour: This visit to a historic Royal Village, home to the Leya people since the 13th century, was an intimate glimpse into Zambian culture. Attendees explored the village and also learned about its traditions, connecting with a way of life rooted in community and history. This was time spent our group will never forget. The incredible warmth of the people who welcomed us what unlike anywhere else in the world.
Tongabezi School Visit: Attendees also joined local students for a day of learning and delivering supplies through the Engage! Foundation’s Pack with a Purpose program. Class was in session for all of us in more ways than one! It was certainly an afternoon packed with laughter, joy, and Ubuntu.
Horseback Safari: A serene ride through nature allowed attendees to view local wildlife from a unique vantage. And the view did not disappoint! They were accompanied by well-trained guides who shared insights along the way.
Rhino Walk: This walking safari offered an up-close encounter with the majestic white rhino in the beautiful Mosi O Tunya National Park. And of course, there was a selfie or two with these special creatures.
Fishing on the Zambezi: Anglers in the group enjoyed a laid-back fishing excursion on the Zambezi. Did you know it boasts over 75 species of fish? The calm waters had more than just fish to keep a look out for as well!
White Water Rafting: For our thrill-seekers, the Zambezi River delivered an adrenaline rush with some of the world’s most challenging and scenic rapids.
Cooking Class with Wine Tasting: Hosted at The Royal Livingstone, this culinary experience paired hands-on cooking with wine tastings, allowing attendees to explore local flavors.
Zambezi River Boat Cruise Lunch
As Engage!24 The Africa Experience neared its end, we enjoyed a cruise on the iconic Zambezi River for our final luncheon. We were split between two vessels—the grand African Queen and the stately Radisson Blu Livingstone. For both groups, it was a tranquil journey down one of Africa’s longest rivers. Wildlife appeared around every bend, from sunbathing crocodiles to hippos peeking above the surface. Elephants made their way to the riverbank for a daytime drink, while we enjoyed our own daytime cocktails. It was the perfect opportunity to reflect on this amazing experience we shared and enjoy time with friends new and old under the African sun.
While Engage! is known for its elegant evening gatherings and grand celebrations, the daytime activities at this experience brought attendees closer to the land, culture, and community of Africa. Each event, from safaris to village visits, left a lasting impression, sparking connections that went beyond the day itself. These unforgettable experiences provided memories that we will carry forward—together. Be sure to check out our Galleries to see more of Engage!24 The Africa Experience.
