At Engage! Summits, luncheons are not just a break for a meal. We take every item on the itinerary as an opportunity to transform an event into an experience. Often, our lunch breaks are more like wedding receptions and are beloved by attendees for their creativity and elegance. And, of course, for the unique opportunity they provide to connect with new friends in a meticulously crafted environment! The luncheons at Engage!24 Nemacolin upheld this tradition and managed to delight our guests in new and beautiful ways.

A Tented Floral Wonderland Luncheon

The first of the luncheons at Engage!24 Nemacolin took place on day two. Our attendees had gathered in the general session tent for a morning of learning and were buzzing with ideas and excitement. They had no idea of the surprise that awaited them! As the session concluded, the curtains behind the stage opened, revealing a gorgeously decorated second room within the giant tent. This space, designed to host 350 guests, was a floral wonderland that celebrated the natural beauty of our venue. The element of surprise created an immediate and lasting impression, with reactions ranging from gasps of delight to broad smiles of appreciation. It was a moment that set the tone for an unforgettable meal.

Décor and Ambiance

Entering the luncheon tent was like stepping through the looking glass. Guests passed through grand, 11-foot trellis archways adorned with lattice panels and colorful blooms, leading them into an enchanted French garden-inspired setting. The space was filled with giant paper flowers, sparkling pink chandeliers, and other whimsical details. Each table was set with fine china, with beautiful botanical details including the stunning floral print linens. The atmosphere was one of elegance and enchantment, the result of a harmonious collaboration between TPD Design House and Ed Libby. We especially loved the menus, which resembled a Victorian greenhouse.

The luncheon menu was a culinary delight, designed to complement the magical floral theme. Guests were first treated to a refreshing sweet corn gazpacho, perfectly paired with heirloom tomato tartare. This appetizer set the stage for a main course of poached salmon, served with quinoa, tabouleh, and lime mint gremolata—a delightful blend of fresh flavors and textures. The meal concluded with a delectable blackberry rose pavlova, a dessert as beautiful as it was delicious. The presentation of each dish was an art form in itself, with the food harmonizing beautifully with the décor.

The Importance of the Element of Surprise in Event Planning

As a community of international event planning professionals, we all know the power of surprise in creating memorable moments for guests. We love to use this principle at Engage! events. The unexpected reveal at the first luncheon was a perfect example, captivating guests and elevating the entire lunch. These surprise moments can significantly enhance guest engagement and satisfaction, leaving a lasting impression. Event planners can achieve this by cleverly hiding details until the right moment, adding unexpected twists to the program, and ensuring that each surprise aligns seamlessly with the overall theme. It’s always a good idea to ask how you can include the element of surprise in your next event! Nemacolin and Ed Libby are true masters at this artform!

Gingham Picnic

Over the course of Engage!24 Nemacolin, we were lucky enough to experience so many of the incredible spaces and places on the vast Nemacolin property. It really felt like our personal playground! So for the last of our luncheons at Engage!24 Nemacolin, we wanted to give attendees the freedom to explore and enjoy the site themselves. Sometimes, unexpected surprises (like rain) can be an opportunity for more fun. This day and last-minute change of venue was no exception!

The result was a picnic-style luncheon to remember! Attendees embraced the relaxed and leisurely atmosphere, donning their best gingham attire. They enjoyed a mellow and leisurely lunch with friends old and new, in the place where real-life magic is made.

Décor and Details

Attendees started off by visiting a beautiful picnic-themed setup. It featured custom branded basket bags – a great gift that we’re sure will get lots of future use! Baskets upon baskets of blooms created a picturesque and inviting environment where guests could load up with an array of grab-and-go lunch options.

These included a variety of gourmet wraps, complemented by sides like root vegetable chips and artisan cheese and crackers. For dessert, guests indulged in dark chocolate cherry brownies and key lime trifles. The combination of delicious food and beautiful surroundings made this luncheon experience a memorable one!

The luncheons at Engage!24 Nemacolin showcased the importance of detailed planning and creative themes in crafting unforgettable experiences. From the floral wonderland to the charming gingham-clad picnic, each luncheon provided a unique dining experience for attendees. We look forward to more extraordinary and magical moments at future Engage! events, that will continue to captivate and delight guests, and set new standards for excellence.
