Engage!25 Mallorca opened with a celebration of true Mediterranean magic! Set in Four Seasons Resort Mallorca at Formentor’s fragrant gardens and inspired by the island’s iconic local markets, the welcome party offered guests their first taste of Mallorca’s culture and irresistible charm. From regional food stations celebrating Spain’s culinary heritage to flamenco performances that mesmerized the crowd, this open-air celebration brought together local craft, regional cooking, and festivity in signature Engage! style. It also set the tone beautifully for the three days that followed. Aquí empieza todo lo bueno.

Setting the Scene: A Mallorcan Market
If you’ve ever visited Mallorca you’ll know that the markets are a fundamental part of the island’s character. These joyful hubs of color, craft, and community served as the inspiration for our welcome party. And Creative Director Tara Fay and her team brought it to life in the most beautiful way! The hotel gardens were transformed into a buzzing plaza, radiating warmth and energy from the moment guests arrived. As they emerged into the space, the Balearic evening settled in around them. Soft breezes drifting through the trees, soft chatter rising beneath a sky shifting from gold to pink and violet, and the scent of fresh herbs and citrus drifting through the air.

A stretch tent rose in the center of the garden. Beneath its canopy, the interplay of color, pattern, and texture brought the spirit of Mallorca to life. Bright florals by Ars Festum set the tone with saturated bursts in a rainbow of shades, arranged in both terracotta pots and clear Perspex boxes that were stacked to form striking installations. Fringed garlands in vivid orange, green, yellow, and red cascaded from the tent ceiling, and bougainvillea chandeliers added a distinctly Mediterranean flourish. The décor continued at ground level with lounge areas dotted with handcrafted textiles and ceramics. The concept was intentionally regional, celebrating heritage while bringing it into an immersive, festival-like setting. It was an environment designed for tasting, talking, and discovering; a welcome that felt full of possibility.

Flavors of Spain
Just like in a real market, the joy of the evening came from wandering and exploring. Attendees moved freely between food stations, a culinary tour of regional specialties from across Spain. For example, the Galicia stall featured ocean-forward delicacies: Pulpo a la Gallega dressed with paprika and olive oil, briny navajas, steamed mejillones, and a rustic huerta salad bursting with freshness. Moving through to Catalunya, we enjoyed wood-roasted seasonal vegetables, grilled goat cheese with a honeyed finish, earthy mushrooms infused with truffle, and a classic escalivada salad layered with smoky Mediterranean flavor.

Meanwhile, the País Vasco station offered heartier fare: beautifully cooked beef ribeye, silky bacalao kokotxa pilpil, sweet pimientos del piquillo, and baked artichokes that captured the warmth of Basque home cooking. At the dessert stall, traditional treats awaited: pears poached in red wine, crema catalana with its signature caramelized top, almond-rich tarta de Santiago, and fruit tatin. Together, this lineup of flavors was vibrant, abundant, and intrinsically connected to Spain’s culinary identity.

Flamenco in the Gardens: Entertainment Highlights
As the sun dipped and the tent glowed brighter, the evening shifted into its most memorable moment. A live flamenco performance! The dancers’ rhythmic footwork, swirling skirts, and expressive movement brought an electrifying energy that rippled through the crowd. Accompanied by guitar and palmas, it was a standout performance of this unmistakably Spanish art form. Then, after the final notes faded, late-night music took over, inviting attendees to dance like nobody was watching beneath the night sky. The atmosphere was carefree and celebratory, and continued until late as guests followed a candle-lined path to the after-party.

Dress Code & Attire
Our dress code for the night was Caftailing Chic, bringing one of summer 2025’s biggest trends (caftans + cocktails) to the island. Guests arrived in floating caftans, breezy linens, and silk ensembles that moved beautifully in the balmy Mallorcan air. The palette ranged from sun-washed neutrals to jubilant citrus tones and jewel-hued silk prints that mirrored the décor’s saturated florals. As attendees moved through the market-style setting, their flowing garments almost became part of the design itself. It was effortless, playful, and a natural fit for Mallorca’s relaxed sophistication.

The Engage!25 Mallorca welcome party brought forward the elements of what makes the island so captivating: vivid color, bold flavor, artisanal heritage, and an unmistakable sense of joy. By reimagining the beloved Mallorcan markets within the hotel gardens, guests were able to experience the destination through its textures, tastes, and traditions. It was a wonderful start to our immersive retreat!
