Just a few months after celebrating our golden 50th gathering in Peru, it felt only fitting to close out 2025 in the Golden State. Engage!25 Santa Barbara returned to California for only the second time in our history for a summit that shimmered with possibility, purpose, and that glorious West Coast light. Here, at the incredible The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara, 500 leaders from across the wedding and events industry gathered for three jam-packed days that balanced forward-looking ideas with honest, practical dialogue.

Santa Barbara, with its Spanish colonial elegance and coastal calm, set the scene. Mountains rose behind us. Waves rolled out before us. And at the center of it all stood Creative Director Tyler Speier, whose heart, history, and hospitality defined the soul of this event. A beloved local talent with a global lens, Tyler infused every detail with intention and artistry. His leadership and his deep love for this city was evident in every moment, every vignette, every bloom. Engage!25 Santa Barbara was his homecoming, and we were lucky enough to watch him work at the top of his game.

Our host property, The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, Santa Barbara, also delivered the ultimate California welcome. Perched between bluff and beach, this oceanfront resort village captured everything we love about the American Riviera: open-air luxury, hacienda charm, and laid-back elegance that lingers long after the sun goes down.

The Brand & Paper Details
The visual identity for Engage!25 Santa Barbara was a masterclass in place-based storytelling, brought to life once again by our creative partners at TPD Design House. Inspired by the city’s signature blend of Spanish Revival architecture, coastal calm, and arts and crafts natural detail, the brand suite also echoed the elegance of the American Riviera at every turn. The custom “E” icon was shaped by regional motifs, including a quatrefoil frame, interwoven lines reflecting wrought-iron patterns found at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara, and light, open styling that mirrored the relaxed beauty of the coastline. The palette blended sun-washed tones and natural textures. Shades like iron, terracotta, sage, stucco, dune, mist, marigold, pinot, and Pacific were used to evoke warm rooftops, garden paths, ocean air, and golden light. Every touchpoint reflected the landscape and character of Santa Barbara, creating a sense of continuity from arrival to farewell.

The Gifting & Registration Experience
Registration and gifting at Engage!25 Santa Barbara took its cue from the Monarch migration. Each year, thousands of butterflies find sanctuary in Santa Barbara’s groves, so for our final event of 2025, we invited attendees to experience their own transformation. Attendees fluttered in from over 35 states and 10 countries to collect their nametagalopes, printed programs, and beautifully bound event books, before stepping into our signature shopping-style gifting experience (this time with a California twist) designed as an elegant farmers’ market.

A curated blend of luxury and local, the gifting suite celebrated the best of Santa Barbara and beyond. Attendees selected from Patagonia jackets, Parker Clay leather totes, and signature goodies like lavender bath salts, Twenty-Four Blackbirds chocolate, Golden Arrow candles, olive oil soaps, and hand-painted postcards by local artists. Thoughtful touches included a custom California poppy water bottle, Love You Bunches wine, and Via Carota cocktails. Each gift was chosen to reflect both the local character of Santa Barbara and the experience attendees were about to share. It was the perfect beginning to a summit designed to spark transformation.

The Sessions
Sessions at Engage!25 Santa Barbara were set in a space that felt more like a sunlit city square than a ballroom. Creative Director Tyler Speier drew inspiration from downtown Santa Barbara’s Spanish and Mexican architecture, transforming the stage with vintage Talavera tile mosaics, layered textures, and a palette of blue, gold, and terracotta. It was a room designed for storytelling. Every design detail honored the region’s aesthetic heritage while setting a thoughtful, energetic tone.

Over three days, the program moved fluidly between big-picture thinking and the realities of running creative businesses. From keynote speakers and headline conversations to interactive breakouts and role-specific tracks, each session was curated to meet attendees exactly where they were in their business journey. We heard from icons like Mindy Weiss, Marcy Blum, and David Stark, trailblazers like Danielle Frankel, and visionaries from across production, planning, design, and content creation. Attendees left with clear ideas they could apply immediately, whether it was Pinterest Predicts insights, tips for navigating difficult conversations from Jefferson Fisher, or hard-earned truths from industry titans like Cindy Novotny.

The final day took a deep dive with topic-focused breakouts and moderated peer exchanges, offering intimate, high-impact conversations around leadership, creative evolution, and the future of the luxury events landscape. With the Pacific just beyond the doors, the conversations felt open and ambitious, yet firmly rooted in real experience.

The Welcome Party
The opening night of Engage!25 Santa Barbara was a full-spectrum celebration, inspired by the city’s beloved Old Spanish Days festival. Set on The Ritz-Carlton Bacara’s grounds, the welcome party brought the spirit of downtown into a seaside setting, complete with bougainvillea-draped trellises, hand-painted cascarón eggs, and a rainbow arch that winked at one of Santa Barbara’s most iconic landmarks.

Guests arrived in technicolor style, greeted by a Mariachi orchestra, live Latin dancers, custom terra cotta bars, and woven lounge areas designed just for the occasion. With music drifting through every corner and margaritas in hand, it was a confetti-filled kickoff to the Summit.

The Lunches
Lunches at Engage!25 Santa Barbara were anything but ordinary. On day two, we embraced the spirit of Cold Spring Tavern, complete with tri-tip sandwiches, rustic design details, and a cheeky hat wall. Think: Western charm meets whimsy.

Even with a packed final day, we managed to squeeze in a grab-and-go lunch, turning up the California cool with a bluffside market experience. It was a fresh, build-your-own deli experience featuring colorful salads, protein bowls, and locally inspired bites. With views of the Pacific in every direction, it was a moment to refuel and soak in the scene.

The Themed Breaks
At Engage!25 Santa Barbara, even the breaks were a masterclass in inspiration! We opened with a citrus-themed moment that included a white chocolate showpiece that paid tribute to the coastal setting.

Day two’s Green Channel Break took its cue from the nearby Channel Islands. Energizing green juices, produce-forward snacks, and a cool, calming vibe that felt very Californian in the best way. These thoughtfully styled pauses went far beyond coffee and carbs. They were mini immersions, offering attendees a taste of the region and fresh ideas for future events.

Night Two Gala Dinner & Dessert Party
The second night of Engage!25 Santa Barbara was pure cinematic magic! Set at the impossibly glamorous Rosewood Miramar Beach, the evening paid tribute to the storied Hollywood escape of Montecito. Guests arrived dressed for ‘Old Montecito Elegance.’ They stepped into a glass tent transformed into a black-and-white supper club, complete with chandeliers, vintage champagne carts, and a full cabaret orchestra by Elan Artists. As the show began and the night unfolded, dinner became performance, and guests became part of the show.

But the curtain didn’t fall there. After dinner, guests were led through a velvet-draped hallway into a chocolate-hued dessert party inspired by Montecito’s own Lucky’s Steakhouse. The space glowed with warm lighting, layered textures, and espresso martini-fueled energy. A custom chocolate bar menu, dueling pianos, and a live chocolate painting moment also added layers of decadence and delight. Portraits of Santa Barbara icons lined the walls like a private club. It was glamorous, cheeky, and absolutely unforgettable. Engage!25: The Movie, for one night only, with a cast of 500 and a standing ovation from every corner of the room.

The Group Experiences
The small group experiences at Engage!25 Santa Barbara offered attendees a chance to explore and connect. From sailing the coast to touring private gardens, each curated excursion captured a different facet of the American Riviera, from its natural beauty to its creative spirit. Attendees chose their own Californian adventure, whether that meant sipping cocktails at San Ysidro Ranch, blending tea at the Ritz-Carlton Spa, or discovering the iconic Lotusland gardens on a private tour normally booked months in advance.

These moments of shared experience fostered new friendships and unexpected conversations. Some found stillness in the Lymphatic Recovery Workshop or Wellness Lounge. Others connected over vinyl and views in the Funk Zone or spent time with the local community through a heartfelt visit to the Alpha Resource Center for the Engage! Foundation, which strives to make a positive impact and support non-profit work being done by event professionals. Whether rooted in wellness, craft, or simply the joy of being outdoors, each experience offered space to breathe and bond. The small group experiences always remind us that often the most meaningful connections are made not in a ballroom or boardroom, but on a boat, in a garden, or over a perfectly steeped cup of tea.

The Gala Finale
The final night of Engage!25 Santa Barbara was pure magic. The theme was ‘Midnight in Wine Country,’ imagined through a glamorous, vineyard-inspired lens. Guests arrived in floral-forward looks, jewel tones, and beaded embellishments. A vine-wrapped tunnel led into The Ritz-Carlton Bacara ballroom, where olive trees, velvet banquettes, and custom-built tables awaited. Fog drifted across tabletops decked with floral plates and wine-colored glassware, while olive-branch lighting patterns danced overhead. Dinner unfolded like a sommelier’s dream, with each course crafted to complement the evening’s featured wines. But as the final pour was served, the mood shifted. Soft lighting turned vibrant, the band took the lead, and the dance floor came alive. A perfect, unforgettable last toast to Engage!25.

To our attendees, speakers, creative partners, and the incredible team at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara: thank you for bringing curiosity, generosity, and ambition into every room. Engage!25 Santa Barbara was the ultimate closing chapter to an extraordinary year. In a place that inspires beauty, innovation, and renewal, we gathered, grew, and set the stage for what’s next.
