By the final night of Engage!26 French Riviera, the stakes had truly been raised. After three full days of sun-soaked gatherings, Côte d’Azur glamour, and unforgettable Mediterranean views, the gala dinner at The Maybourne Riviera served as the glorious final hand.

Dressed in black tie, floor-length gowns, and suave tuxedos, guests stepped out onto the terrace as dusk settled over the Mediterranean and the first notes of live music drifted through the air, ready to be wowed. What followed was a night that moved through candlelight and roses, champagne and roulette wheels, a finale worthy of Casino de Monte-Carlo itself. It was all about capturing the spirit of Monaco and reimagining it, Engage! style.

Décor & Details

In designing this finale, Creative Director Emma Gold understood that the most memorable events are built on contrast. The Engage!26 French Riviera Gala was a masterclass in just that. The evening unfolded like a beautifully paced story. First, cocktail hour on an expansive sea-view terrace overlooking the sea, glass balustrades framing one last spectacular Riviera sunset. Décor was clean and modern, in shades of gold and white. Conversation was easy, but anticipation was building. Just beyond, a draped entrance framed by an installation of candles and deep red roses hinted at what lay inside. This contrast was entirely intentional: the luminous openness of the terrace against the mysterious glamour of Monaco after dark.

As night fell and the candles were lit, the reveal did not disappoint. Long serpentine banquet tables curved through the space, wrapping around a raised grand piano at the center. The room was filled with over 2,000 candles, surrounding the piano in clusters, and also arranged down the tables in candelabras and clear glass cylinders of varying heights. White satin tablecloths pooled softly, while sheer white draping gave the room a dreamlike quality. Gold-rimmed glassware, polished gold flatware, gold and white Maison Margaux plates, and delicate scalloped napkins helped to create a tablescape that felt luxurious yet restrained. Claret colored roses provided the only bold interruption to the neutral palette, arranged low across the tables. It was, to put it frankly, breathtaking.

Following dinner, the brass band led guests into the transformed hotel foyer for a casino-themed after-party. If dinner was high-class Riviera elegance, the casino was Monaco after midnight. The lobby became a moody speakeasy, layered in peacock hues of deep emerald, rich reds, and glowing gold accents. A tribute to beauty, luck, and just a little bit of mischief. Dark green velvet armchairs mingled with vintage Chesterfields, with fringed lampshades and tall gold tables also setting the scene. This was La Vie Monégasque, and we were here for it.

Stationery

Paper goods by TPD Design House were a key part of the storytelling for the event. At each setting, a menu created from layered gold foil and sculptural white cardstock showcased organic shapes inspired by reflections on the water. Around its edge, in both French and English, ran the words: “Quand le soir tombe sur la Côte d’Azur, les lumières dansent sur l’eau. C’est un spectacle simple, mais inoubliable.” (As evening falls over the Côte d’Azur, lights dance on the water. It is a simple yet unforgettable spectacle.) A small claret-red place card rested on top, understated against the gilded surroundings. The design language also extended seamlessly into the after-party, where casino-chip coasters, custom poker chips, and branded matchbooks immersed guests in the fantasy. Even late-night snacks arrived wrapped in branded greaseproof paper, no detail overlooked.

Food & Beverage

The menu was as refined as the room. Dinner opened with a choice of lobster with citrus, basil, and courgette espuma, or a beautifully composed zucchini and basil espuma with a zucchini flower stuffed with vegetables. Mains brought John Dory alongside green peas, wild asparagus, mussels, saffron emulsion, and fennel flowers, or a confit fennel with peas, asparagus, and saffron emulsion for vegetarian guests, the saffron a golden thread running through both. For dessert, an exotic pavlova with vanilla-whipped ganache and mango passion fruit sorbet.

At the bar, two signature cocktails also played to the evening’s palette. The Gold Rush (bourbon, lemon juice, honey syrup) was warm and assured. The Crimson Gold (Havana rum, Sauternes, sparkling osmanthus, and saffron cordial) was something more complex. Champagne also flowed generously, of course. This was the French Riviera, after all.

And then came the dessert buffet inside the casino. Crafted by Bastien Blanc Tailleur, the entirely edible display transformed classic casino imagery into haute pâtisserie. Playing cards, dice, gold bars, and forty kilograms of gold coins, all made from intricate sweets and confections. Celebration cakes inspired by roulette wheels and casino iconography. It was a spectacle of indulgence, and resistance was simply not in the cards.

Entertainment

Throughout dinner, live performers moved seamlessly between the tables, slowly building the room’s energy until guests were fully immersed in the experience. OKIEM’s piano performance anchored the evening with elegance and drama, while a brass band later led guests directly into the next chapter of the night. And what a chapter it was!

The casino after-party buzzed with energy as guests tested their luck at blackjack and roulette before returning to the dance floor. Live music continued late into the night, while an immersive dress-up photo booth added another layer of playful glamour.

The Attire

Guests embraced the Monte Carlo Magic dress code with spectacular style. Tuxedos, dramatic gowns in sophisticated silhouettes, rich shades of red and classic black, gold embellishments, and sleek tailoring turned the gala into a sea of Riviera sophistication. Grace Kelly would have been proud.

The final night of Engage!26 French Riviera was many things: a celebration, a spectacle, a send-off worthy of the week that preceded it. Like any great party, it felt like it ended far too soon (even if our watches disagreed.) But that was also a reminder that the best experiences are the ones that leave you wanting just one more round. The cards had been dealt, the final bets placed, and the candles burned low… but the glow of this gala lingers on.
