After the final farewells of Engage!26 Maui, the island magic continued a little longer. Engage! founders Rebecca Grinnals and Kathryn Arce were delighted to be part of an intimate post-summit FAM trip hosted by Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. This group of top event professionals had the opportunity to experience the property as guests, but also as storytellers, tastemakers, and creators of unforgettable luxury celebrations.
From our first welcome, the resort offered a masterclass in destination hospitality. In-room gifts brought the spirit of Maui beautifully to life. They included fresh fruit, local snacks, Wailea Trail Bar cookies, caps, sunglasses, and even a chocolate ‘postcard.’ It was exactly the kind of thoughtful, place-led detail that makes a destination wedding welcome gift into a moment. Over the course of our stay, guests explored the many ways a Four Seasons Maui experience feels both polished and distinctly Hawaiian. Dining, of course, played a memorable role. From a tasting at Spago, where Hawaiian and California influences come together against panoramic ocean views, to relaxed coastal Italian cuisine at Ferraro’s, open-air steak and seafood at DUO, and refined Japanese dining at KOMO, each meal introduced us to a different aspect of the resort’s culinary range. It showed how a multi-day wedding weekend can move effortlessly from welcome cocktails to rehearsal dinners, farewell brunches, and everything in between.
The trip also highlighted the cultural experiences that make Maui such a special destination. We took to the water for a Hawaiian outrigger canoe excursion, learned the storytelling tradition of hula, and joined hands-on sessions in lei making and coconut frond weaving. These were opportunities to connect with our location in ways that are remembered long after a visit ends.
The venue tour was a true highlight. Four Seasons Maui offers a collection of ceremony and reception spaces that feel naturally cinematic. For example, the beautiful Plumeria Garden. Or the intimate romance of Plumeria Point, where a natural canopy of sweet-scented plumeria trees frames views of the Pacific and the Kahalawai Mountains. The expansive Oceanfront Lawn offered another unforgettable setting, ideal for a banquet beneath the Maui sky with Wailea Beach as the backdrop.
The group also toured The Club, the resort’s newly reimagined hotel-within-a-hotel experience. It comes complete with private lounge access and a dedicated concierge service. For couples planning a destination wedding, it offers a particularly compelling way to create privacy for VIP guests or the wedding party.
