As the sun set on our final evening on Maui, we gathered one last time to celebrate new friendships, shared inspiration, and unforgettable moments. Inside the ballroom of The Ritz-Carlton Maui, Kapalua, the theme said it all: Maui in Bloom. The Engage!26 Maui gala was a fitting tribute to an island where flowers are woven into daily life, from fragrant gardens to the leis that symbolize aloha, welcome, and connection. And the room delivered, in a flurry of elegant white floral gowns and suits, in dancing and laughter, and in the vibe of a group that has spent three days building something special and isn’t quite ready to let it end.

Setting & Décor

For this event, the creative team had interpreted the floral theme through contemporary design, abstracting flowers into pattern, texture, and sculptural form. One of the evening’s most memorable details greeted guests before dinner even began. For the escort display, each guest’s name was paired with a small bloom displayed in laboratory-style glass tubes. Part botanical archive, part modern art installation, it offered a memorable introduction to the evening’s floral story.

Illuminated floral spheres floated overhead. The stage was also framed by large floral arrangements on either side, with a softly unfurling orchid displayed on the LED screen behind. At the bar, illuminated carved panels with botanical motifs and surrounded by ethereal, oversized flowers created a whimsical focal point. Tables were color-blocked with linens, candles, and colored glassware, each interpreting the theme through its own distinctive palette.

Stationery

The paper goods from TPD Design House continued the botanical narrative. At each place setting, a gold-embossed circular menu card doubled as a charger. They featured stylized palm fronds and a sculptural white plumeria that opened petal by petal to reveal the menu beneath. It was tactile and interactive; a small design moment that rewarded a closer look.

Food & Beverage

The menu celebrated fresh island flavors with a refined approach. For example, dinner opened with ahi tuna accompanied by tomatoes and goat cheese, before continuing with an elegant entrée showcasing local ingredients. Dessert provided a fitting finale of vanilla mousse paired with bright lilikoi, almond biscuit, and a glossy white mirror glaze that reflected the evening’s clean, contemporary palette.

The cocktail list also leaned into the tropical spirit. ‘Write to Me and Escape’ combined vodka, passionfruit, orange, guava, coconut cream, and lime juice; the Kapaloma brought together Patrón Añejo, Aperol, elderflower liqueur, lychee, and grapefruit. For non-drinkers, the aptly named ‘Guava Me This’ included house-made guava ginseng tea. It proved every bit as refreshing as its spirited counterparts.

Entertainment

Once dinner came to a close, the evening blossomed into a full-scale dance party. The Jordan Kahn Orchestra filled the ballroom with infectious energy, drawing guests to the floor, where they stayed, twirling and jiving, for the rest of the evening. Later, DJ Malike kept the momentum going. Meanwhile, the BangaBooth photo experience offered a photo moment for anyone who needed a brief pause from the dancing.

The Attire

If there was one undeniable highlight of the evening, it was the fashion. Guests embraced the Maui in Bloom dress code with remarkable elegance, arriving in chic all-white ensembles with three-dimensional floral embellishments and sculptural petal details.  Others chose white as a foundation and let a single floral element do the work: a bold accessory, an embroidered sleeve, a painted motif that drew the eye. The emphasis was on texture and craftsmanship, allowing each blossom to stand out against a canvas of luminous white.

The effect called to mind Maui’s own iconic plumeria blooms. Their white petals have long symbolized aloha, beauty, and connection throughout Hawaiʻi. Together, the guests became part of the evening’s floral story, creating a room that felt fresh, sophisticated, and unmistakably island-inspired.

The final night of Engage!26 Maui was, above all, a celebration. Of the island, of the industry, and of the people in the room. As the music faded and the final dance came to an end, we left with full hearts, new friendships, and memories that will continue to blossom long after returning home.
