Night two of Engage!25 Mallorca took us into the heart of the island to explore the centuries-old relationship with wine. The extraordinary Can Axartell Winery, located in the north-east of Mallorca, hosted an evening shaped by the quiet power of the landscape and their signature process, designed in harmony with the land. It showcased Mallorcan craftsmanship in one of the island’s most striking locations.

Carved directly into the rock of Pollença, Can Axartell sits at the foot of the Serra de Tramuntana, surrounded by 200 hectares of olive trees and stone terraces. The estate has nearly eight hundred years of history woven into its soil. Early vineyards were discovered here shortly after the island was reclaimed from Moorish rule, but its current form is unapologetically modern. A futuristic façade of glass and steel appears almost sculpted from the quarry walls. Here, history and modernity sit comfortably side by side. The winery follows a gravity-flow process, meaning the grapes are never pumped or pushed; instead, they move gently downward through each stage of production, maintaining purity and character. Organic and biodynamic approaches guide the viticulture, honoring the landscape that has nurtured vines for centuries. The result is wine that tastes distinctly of Mallorcan land. It is expressive, elegant, shaped by salt air, and mineral-rich soils.

Welcome Drinks: The Journey Begins
As the sun turned the sky golden, guests were welcomed with a glass of wine in the loading bay. This is also the place where grapes begin their journey each harvest. It was an atmospheric introduction: raw stone and panoramic views stretching across the valley. It was a unique behind-the-scenes vantage point that grounded us immediately in the winery’s working life.

From the loading bay, guests moved deeper into the winery, through corridors carved directly into the rock. Cool stone and the scent of oak barrels surrounded us, and the architecture felt like a journey into the island’s geology, every step leading further into the earth. Can Axartell’s team was on hand to explain the gravity-driven pressing process, the history behind the estate, and the philosophy that defines every bottle.

Décor & Details
Dinner took place in the barrel room. The room was washed in deep wine hues, a palette inspired directly by the grapes and barrels surrounding us. Candlelight flickered against the stone walls, creating a dreamy glow. Arrangements of lush greenery cascaded over the tables, which snaked through the space in a fluid, organic pattern. This shape encouraged flow, visibility, and conversation, creating a living, breathing model of movement and energy. Every design detail felt like an extension of the setting: elevated, grounded, and entirely Mallorcan.

A Menu Inspired by the Land
Dinner by Fosh Catering was a culinary ode to Mallorca’s flavors, traditions, and ingredients. The opening dish was a jewel-toned cherry gazpacho, an unexpected interpretation of a regional classic. This was followed by Galician beef fillet and short ribs cooked to tender perfection.

Wine, of course, took center stage. Can Axartell’s organic and biodynamic selections paired seamlessly with the menu, their mineral-rich profiles mirroring the outdoors. And of course, cocktails were also on the menu, with a Mallorcan Daiquiri and Fosh Basil Smash (made with local gin) as the signature drinks.

And then came the grand finale: dessert! An Engage! night two tradition, the sweet spread was an abundant display of pastry artistry. Guests moved between tables laden with delicious sweets, turning the end of dinner into an event all of its own.

The Dress Code: Vineyard-Inspired Hues
Inspired by our setting, guests arrived in shades of deep wine and berry, soft blush, olive green, warm neutrals, and golden accents. The effect was stunning: as attendees took their seats, the entire room looked like an extension of the vines, olives, and grapes that define the estate. Fashion became part of the design, elevating the atmosphere while adding a sense of glamour. And true to Engage! style, attendees interpreted the brief with creativity and elegance, a living palette drawn straight from the valley.

Night two at Can Axartell was an evening grounded in Mallorca’s soil and spirit. It encouraged everyone to pause, enjoy, and simply be present. It was also a reminder of why we gather, why we celebrate, and why Engage! events feel like coming home to a global family.
